Two weeks! Very brave. But your courage paid off - everything looks great! I hope the holiday was equally successful. And I love that you have critters doing their own gardening in your space. You could try leaving the corn in place, but charging rent?
Lol we don’t trust those little buggers! Also, after reading your post today I feel compelled to tell you we are looking at replacing our veg garden sprinklers with drip irrigation next year …
What a relief that everything survived (and thrived) while you were gone! We've been gone a few long weekends which has definitely stressed out a couple new plantings. It's been a dry summer here in Pittsburgh!
The vacation was totally worth it and we assumed we’d have “stuff” to deal with when we got back. Sometimes when you expect bad things you’re rewarded with less bad things.
Oh yes, those pesky squirrels and their walnuts. They are one of the few animals that can get into our raised beds and yes they have planted walnuts, the little beasts.
Your white garden is resplendent indeed! I grinned at your corn crop, having been corn bombed by the critters myself, a hazard when you live across from acres of corn fields. So satisfying to grow your own food. I hope you have enough tomatoes to make sauce or to can them for the winter when the store tomatoes are like golf balls. *whew* about the limb missing the fence too: the house's guardian spirits must have been on duty!
We have two types of tomatoes, one is more of a slicing tomato and the other is supposed to be better for sauce (however, these have begun ripening first so we've been using them in salads, etc.). Nonetheless, I do hope to make and freeze some tomato sauce. I did some canning years ago but can't quite summon the energy for it this year.
Funny that your critters plant corn from across the road. I'm thankful our critters don't have access to anything on that scale!

Your garden is lovely. I have a problem with squirrels planting walnuts! Those critters.
